Establishment of the Noordin Sopiee Chair In Global Studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia

ISIS, in appreciation of the numerous intellectual contributions of the late Tan Sri Dr. Noordin Sopiee (the immediate past Chairman & CEO of ISIS Malaysia), had initiated the idea of establishing the Noordin Sopiee Chair In Global Studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

The Chair was inaugurated by Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia, on 4th September 2006 at Universiti Sains Malaysia. The Chair is located within the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies (CenPRIS) of Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Dr. Chandra Muzaffar was appointed as the first holder of the Noordin Sopiee Chair in Global Studies on 2 April 2007.
