Housing plays a critical role in the quality of life and social mobility of the urban poor. Families living in public low-cost housing face major challenges, such as poor infrastructure, safety and security which perpetuates the cycle of low-income deprivation. By employing qualitative data from interviews with local communities, this chapter maps out the key challenges for Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) residents. In collaboration with the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia for SDGs (APPGM-SDG), the chapter aims to address the issues associated with quality of life for the urban poor.
