Malaysia is faced with two critical demographic challenges – an ageing population and a declining birth rate. Amid the shifting demographic patterns, vulnerable groups, including children in need, persons with disabilities and individuals battling mental health issues, are often left behind in the shadows.
Reframing paradigms of the provision of care as an investment and economic growth engine is critical to meet care needs. Of equal importance is the need to recognise, train and support caregivers in their journey. This conference takes stock of the diverse needs, progress, challenges, gaps and opportunities unique to caring for specific target groups, and the enablers within the care economy ecosystem. How can the nation provide better and equitable care for all, in policy and practice?
